2012 Summer Bridge Application

Maui High is pleased to announce that it will hold its second CSI: Challenge Summer Institute Program for new-Freshmen this summer. CSI is a three week summer enrichment program offering students an opportunity to enhance literacy skills, familiarize themselves with organizational strategies to be successful at Maui High, and learn about their new school. Welcome to the Maui High Saber Family! We know that your child is still working hard to complete his or her studies at our excellent feeder schools, but we wanted to provide you with information about a new and exciting summer program, CSI@MHS, available only to future Maui High freshmen. CSI@MHS is a three week, summer enrichment program for incoming freshmen where we will provide students with:

· A head start with math, science, and literacy skills

· Organizational and technological skills for high school success

· Teambuilding within the new freshman class and with current MHS students

Our CSI@MHS program will have a forensics theme, where students will learn new skills integrating math, science, and language arts content in a fun, challenging and interdisciplinary way. Here’s the basic information:

Lokelani and Maui Waena Intermediate Schools have allowed us to host information sessions on their respective campuses to provide information to parents. If you are interested in our program, please visit us on the campus most convenient for you:

Sign ups are due by April 20, 2012, and students will be signed up on a first come, first served basis. Please note, phone calls cannot be answered during Spring Break as this is a teacher coordinated program. Phone calls will be returned after March 19, 2012.

Kokua Fund

Maui High's PCNC Program has established a "Kokua Fund" to help student families who fall into financial hardship cope with various student expenses. This fund will serve as emergency financial support to MHS students in areas directly relating to their academic needs and success. Through this program you can help an MHS family provide school supplies for their child, purchase bus fare, or pay certain school-related activity fees among other things. Checks can be made payable to "Maui High School" with 'PCNC-Kokua Fund' noted on the check. Let's kokua one another. Please make your donation today!

Registration Information 2012-2013

Maui High will begin our Registration process for students in January through March. Students will have a chance to meet with counselors and teachers to select courses for next school year. Parents and students may view the attached electronic catalog for information regarding our courses and program offering.

Students needing to take their pictures for their Maui High ID will need to see Mrs. Joyo in B-102 during morning recess. If you have paid for an Athletic Card, please bring your receipt.

View Grades Online!

Maui High is pleased to announce that effective for school year 2011-2012, we have implemented JupiterGrades (formerly SnapGrades) schoolwide. Information on how you can access this online program was attached to your child's schedule during registration.

If you did not receive this information, please email snapgrades@mauihigh.org and provide the following information:

1. Your child's legal first and last name
2. Your child's birthdate (for verification)
3. Your name and relationship (for verification)

All teachers will be utilizing this online program so that students and parents can have access to student progress throughout the term, on campus and from home.

Please take note of the following:

1. Teachers are not required to update grades daily. Established grading dates have been established to coincide with academic eligibility deadlines (roughly every two weeks). Some teachers may update grades more frequently, however, this is not required.

2. Teachers are asked to utilize the attendance feature of SnapGrades, however, they are not required to do so. The reason for this is that the state office in charge of managing student data has declined to support us in implementing this program, and teachers are required to use the state system for attendance. We apologize in advance for this inconvenience. We will, however, continue to use our phone system to notify families of absences.

3. If you have any questions regarding your child's performance, please feel free to contact your child's teacher directly. You are able to email your child's teacher from JupiterGrades directly.

Transcript Requests

TRANSCRIPT REQUESTS

Students and graduates who need copies of their transcripts can request official and unofficial copies using the form provided through the link below. Please be aware of the following:

Current Students: First two official transcripts are free of charge, each additional copy will be provided at a fee ($2 per copy)

Students Applying for Adult Education: One official copy provided free of charge.

Graduates/Past Students: A fee of $2 applies to each copy requested.

Transcripts will be mailed within two business days of receipt of fee and request form.

Personal Transition Plan

The Personal Transition Plan is a graduation requirement established by the Board of Education. The attached documents outline MHS' plan to assist students with the completion of the PTP.
