Dear Prospective Judge,

We would like to invite you to be a panel judge for Senior Project Presentation Day for the 2017 graduating class at Maui High School. This event will be held on Friday, March 10th from 8:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Senior project presentation day is only possible due to the tremendous support we receive from our community. Judges come from our school staff, feeder schools and companies from all over Maui.

All seniors are required to complete a senior project.  Each senior is asked to to choose a topic and write an argumentative paper, create/execute a product, document everything in a portfolio and present to a panel to showcase their academic capabilities.

It should be an exciting day to observe and share in this pivotal event in our students’ lives. Some of the topics selected by our students include: fashion, auto-technology, aquaponics, music, nursing, cooking, surfing, photography, fishing, video production, robotics, business, building & construction, art, and more.

As a judge you will be assigned to a room with 3-4 other judges, including a lead judge who is a member of the MHS Staff.  You will listen to 4 presentations per block. Each judge fills out a rubric evaluating the presentation and the SP Coordinator will average all of the evaluations collected to determine if the student passes. No one judge will be responsible for “failing” a student.  After the student presents, judges are encouraged to ask questions; there is a 5 minute window for questions so no one judge should dominate the questioning period.

To sign up to be a judge on March 10, 2017  you can use the attached sign up form or access our online sign up form by visiting SP SIGN UP FORM
